Take it to heart for it is coming true. Political Correctness will "kill" the life you now enjoy, including all the freedoms you've grown up to accept as "rights". They're only "rights" until some bastard takes them away.
What's talked about in France is already on the front pages.
This is real stuff that shouldn't be brushed off as "it can't affect me" bullshit.
Sorry for the redundency post but the good life as many of us know it has a limited lifespan traveling down the present course. Perhaps much shorter than many imagine or envision.
As a nation we need to grow some balls. And insist that those representing us in office do likewise.

I read it Mike. I've read it before, and we'll all see this in whole or parts in the years to come. I think we're all frustrated because as individuals or groups we can't seem to change things in government. An example was just proven yesterday on election day. The governor we put in place to turn things around in Sacramento was totally humbled, and some one spent $300,000,000 to do it.
We have a government who won't protect our borders, can't take of its own people in times of disaster, allows big business to gouge the public and is certain to tax our grandkids right into the ground. I could go on longer than the PC thread, but you know it all anyway.
Finally, instead of taking Spanish in school, you better take Chinese (Communist Chinese that is).
    Have a nice day...

Very well stated and true Burt.
I've been practicing up on my taste for rice. I'm going to start mixing in some sand just to prepare for either likely eventuallity the way things are presently going.

I find it ironic that you say this after yesterday's election during which millions of people couldn't agree on basic action items (propositions) that would have corrected some of the basic problems we have in this state.
If the liberals in this state can't back away from their secular, socialistic views that are taking this country down the path to destruction how can we expect this country to "grow some balls?!"
I'm not as pessimistic as I might sound but I am very concerned when:
    * The ACLU is as anti-American as any organization within our borders,
    * We have a former ACLU executive/lawyer is sitting on our Supreme Court (Ruth Bader Ginsburg),
    * 75% of our mainstream media is anti-Bush (no matter what he does),
    * The state of California cannot support the hospitals and schools and infrastructure we have because we are being overrun by illegal immigrants (and we have a lower quality of services and healthcare because of it),
    * Those who go to the border to observe and try to help the INS locate those coming into our country illegally are called "vigilantes" by our government officals, etc.
I'm afraid that we may soon be unable to "grow some balls" and if things keep going the way they are what chestnuts we have left will have atrophied to the point where all we'll be is a big pussy.

These problems are clearly caused by liberals. LMAO! You're too much, Dan.
I would have thought this sort of brainless bullshit would have stopped when Republicans took over all levels of government as you know it. Of course, I would have been wrong.
Dan, your 'vote for my guy and all of your problems will be solved... that other guy is the devil' bullshit is thin as air. You got Bush. Things don't look so perfect, from where I stand.
Would Kerry have done better? Who knows? Could he have create a nirvana? Definitely not. Would staunch Democrats have blamed all problems and screw ups on Republicans? It's a safe bet.
There's a time for partisan politics and then there's a time when people you care about are getting their nuts blown off. I'll side with my friends and family and to hell with any political party affiliations.
Personally, I blame it on people who blame other people for their problems.

The problem is that so-called Republicans like GWB and Arnold are too main-stream and too moderate to really fix the problems. However, any more conservative candidates would have probably never been elected. I think myself and many others who voted for them did not expect a quick reversal of years of traveling down the wrong path. We were looking at it as a step in the right direction.
Americans have become so impatient and demand things happen so easily and painlessly that when the problems are not totally corrected in a few short years or days they scream failure and demand another replacement to magically correct all the problems overnight.
Unfortunately, a large number of this population is living in a dream world and I believe its going to bite us in the ass in a big way.

    Thanks for your insight Tom.
Your country has already gone down the tubes. It would have been too much for me to expect you'd understand my points or agree with me. I'm actually happy you didn't/don't. You probably think the French are handling their riots nicely too. Personally I think the French police need to start shooting the rioters as quickly as possible. Nothing will stop that insurrection like pictures of dead anarchists lying in the street with multiple bullet holes in them.
Did you see the news today? 60+ innocent people (mostly Jordanians) were killed in Jordan in hotels by suicide bombers. Riots all over France. That's the world we're living in.
We need strong visionary leadership supported by a nation united in keeping our country free. We don't have the leadership we need but if we roll over and watch like the people of France and other countries in Europe, we won't be any better than them.
Your country doesn't have to worry about terrorists. Ever wonder why that is?

Dan I don't think yesterday California is a typical example of the way the entire country would have handled the same group of choices. At least I hope not. I don't think the Props were perfect either. Some of them would have moved in the right direction though and I believe Arnold is truly trying to recover California to solvency from many years of overspending by power hungry legislators. All his methods are obviously not perfect or acceptable in the publics eye, but for a large part the public is swayed by TV ads and relatively uninformed on the meat of the problem facing the state, which is basically insolvency on many levels. When bankruptcy occurs, and it will unless Sacramento reforms its ways, programs that are near and dear to Sacramento big ballers will go away, along with some essential ones which should not have to. And we will all be paying more taxes, you can count on that.
But the much larger (than California's problems) is the world problem that the other thread refers to. I'm probably more pessimistic than you on this because I think political correctness is so far ingrained in our society at this point it would take a nuclear bomb going off to wake people up and cause them to realize we're in trouble as a country and need to aggressively defend ourselves in a non-politically correct manner against terriorism. Unfortunatey that exact scenario may just come to pass. This whole country has become a pathetic, complacent, open border, undefended, politically correct TARGET for anyone that doesn't like us to take a relatively free shot at. The thing is today, a shot like that can take out a city or three. That will be a costly wakeup call both economically and in human lives. I can guarantee though after an event of that magnatude you won't be reading about political correctness anywhere. Case in point... Pearl Harbor.

Your country has already gone down the tubes.
    Well... that's a wrap, then.

    Way, way too much.

Thanks for understanding how I feel.

    Do I?
How many fingers am I holding up, Dan?

Did you see the news today?
    I don't watch the news.
60+ innocent people (mostly Jordanians) were killed in Jordan in hotels by suicide bombers. Riots all over France. That's the world we're living in.
Dan... I have no clue what world your living in.
We need strong visionary leadership supported by a nation united in keeping our country free. We don't have the leadership we need but if we roll over and watch like the people of France and other countries in Europe, we won't be any better than them.
Dan... the bitterness and vitriol coming from you before your last federal election was galaxy class. I read a couple of your posts and was stupefied by your views. Person A... perfect. Person B... Satan.
You got your guy and he's plenty hawkish.
There's no way that any one person at the helm of your country is going to change the way people think. There's no way any one political party could have done all that you promised.
In my world, the bigger picture is about taking care of my friends and family. It's about helping the neighbors move some furniture because they're old and can't do it themselves. I couldn't imagine a world where I would trying to ascertain my neighbor's politics and possibly not help them because “they're part of the problem” and need to be punished. I could give a rats ass about their political views. I'm equally confident, they could care less about mine. It seems pretty clear we're both just as happy to not be in each other's face with it.
Some of those Dems you seem to enjoy hating so much could easily help your family one day. It's not like your army is 100% Reps. Those Dems in the army are willing to take a bullet for you. It must take a lot of work to maintain hatred for them.
I don't hate anyone, Dem or Rep. If you want a nice life, try being nice to people. There is no panacea. Sure, I have some philosophical leanings... and I vote that way. Once the election is done, I support Canada... not just one party.
I'm glad to live in Canada. I think we have a beautiful country and a pretty good system. Occasionally, that system crawls up my ass and turns to concrete. I don't have to think that everywhere else is worse to enjoy living here.
Your country doesn't have to worry about terrorists. Ever wonder why that is?
Yes but I suspect my theories differ from the conclusions you've arrived at.
