OK...so here's the deal. I've been accumulating the parts for a hard running n/a 496 for a while now. When I decided to go blown alky, the 496 didn't pan out to be the best combo, so I'm throwing it out there to see who might be interested.
There's three options here, and I'm not interested in parting this out at this time, so don't ask about individual components.
    Option 1.
Short block assembly, un-assembled. These are all new parts except block.
GM four bolt Mk IV block, standard bore, needs boring, no damage. De burred and race prepped.
    Eagle 4340 4.25 forged crank.
    Brooks65 6.385" aluminum rods
    JE/SRP 13: pistons w/pins
    Clevite race series bearings...std-std.
    $2500.00
    Option2
    Assembled short block.
This includes balancing, any clearancing needed for rods, bluprinting the block, gas porting pistons, ARP studs, and Total seal low tension rings. Less pan and pump.
    $4400.00
    Option 3
Complete long block, less pan and pump.
    All the above, plus:
Cam...custom roller grind, depending on your app.
Comp Cams roller lifters. Can upgrade for add'l cost.
    Isky Roller Rockers
    Roll Master timing set.
    Cast alum. timing cover.
Brodix BB2X Rehr Morrison heads, (used) fully ported, and inspected and freshened by Alan Johnson. Will have flow numbers for cam choice. These heads are in excellent condition with Manley severe duty valves, K Motion roller springs, and Ti retainers. Low time, seats are in new condition, and heads were well maintained, never damaged.
Manley Pro series pushrods...came with heads.
    ARP head studs
    Cometic head gaskets
Dart TR, port matched to Brodix heads w/ Dominator top
Stefs aluminum pan and pick-up, custom built for the application.
Melling race series oil pump. blue printed.
This would be a fully prepped competition motor with 13+:1 compression, making in the area of 900 hp, depending on cam choice and use. No BS, nothing fancy. Built to your specific application. Everything I did on my 467, would be repeated here.
    $9900.00
At this point nothing is assembled. The heads are at Johnson's right now.
If anyone is remotely interested in any of these options, let me know. It could be done by next race season, but time's a tickin.

Would this motor run on AV gas?
If I have anything to do with it ... it would run on alcohol ...
But yes, Scott can set it up to run on AV, pump, but most likely C116 (VP)?
    Right Scott?
I'm debating a N/A alcohol motor for the river.

I doubt you'll get any arguement out of him on that.
Lake motor? Um...OK. Sure, why not. Talk to me, Brian.
Need mucho more compression for alky. That's a lot more work on the build, and it would be fun to get it there, but not on carbs. Let's see...496, alum. rod, injected alky n/a motor. (Do I smell nitro?)
I'm thinkin it might need a better crank.
Taylorman, I don't know how av gas would work at 13:1, but Brian's right...I wouldn't play around with it on this deal, I'd just run the good stuff.
