I'm sure you've heard the news. Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are no longer together. After months of speculation and denials, especially from Simpson, the word is out.
"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," said a statement released by their publicists.
When I interviewed Simpson in New York in August for the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie, she said she was tired of the rumors and innuendo by tabloids who were quick to say that she and her husband of three years were on the rocks.
Insiders always thought the strife came from Simpson's larger-than-life status and Lachey taking a back seat to his wife's catapulting fame. Adding to the tension was Joe Simpson, who manages Jessica and sister Ashlee's careers. However, Joe was working with Lachey on a reality series, but most likely that will not see the light of day.
"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other and we hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time," according to the joint statement.
Lachey is 32, while Simpson is 25.
However, you can still pick up Simpson's coffee table book, which now may be relegated to bargain bins or could become a conversation piece. It's titled: "Jessica Simpson I Do: Achieving Your Dream Wedding." It was released last year.
