Two local men were seriously injured when their pickup truck left the road and hit a tree near Bullhead City on Arizona State Highway 68 early Monday morning. Thurston Poole, 33, of Canyon Lake, CA and Tom Brown, 36, of Regina, Alberta, Canada were treated at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The accident occurred as the two men were returning to Lake Havasu City after going out for tacos in Kingman.
On an overcast Sunday night, Poole's pickup truck headlights malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the older-model truck had burned out. As a replacement fuse was not available, Brown realized that the .22 caliber bullet from his pistol fit perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering wheel column. Upon inserting the bullet, the headlights again began to operate and the two men proceeded on westbound toward the Colorado River Bridge.
After traveling approximately 20 miles and just before crossing the river, the bullet apparently overheated, discharged and struck Poole in the right testicle. The vehicle swerved sharply to the right, exiting the pavement and striking the tree. Poole suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident, but will require surgery to repair the other wound. Brown sustained a broken clavicle and was treated and released.
"Thank God we weren't on that bridge when Thurston shot his nuts off or we might have been dead," said Brown.
"I've been a trooper for 10 years in this part of the world," said Arizona State Trooper J. D. Snyder, "but this is a first for me. I can't believe that those two would admit how the accident happened."
Upon being notified of the wreck, Lavinia, Poole's wife, asked "how many tacos the boys had brought back with them, and did anyone think to get them from the truck?"

Seems to me I recall MythBusters busting that myth..........
I just wrap the blown fuse with the tin of gum wrapper. That way you just get a puff of smoke and no pow.

Now that's bad luck. Wrecking your truck, shooting off your nuts and leaving your dinner behind all in one night...........Should have ordered pizza.

Edit: Due to the holidays and my desire to be an even nicer guy ignore the rest of this post!
It is funny but there is NO TRUTH to this story. Not only that but this story was changed (made "local" using Havasu/Kingman) from the original.
Here's the whole, real story (http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/fuse.asp)
