Why are you blowing it for just 5-600 HP? You can get that quite easily normally aspirated.

Chevy is always cheaper as parts are more readily available and less costly. Costs less for more power and most boats that are massed produced are with Chevy motors. I JUST FINISHED building my 496 out of a 454. A baseline 4 bolt buildable block is 5-700.00 A steel 4340 rotating assembly is a must as I oblonged my cast crank last year making 650 HP. That costs about 3500. If you want good heads which you may not need at 700 HP they will cost you another 2000 or so. Standard heads 1000.00. Machining about 1000. Blower used and in good shape 2000. Get it on E bay. Blower referenced Carburetors for blower 1000 or so.. Assembly 1000-1500. New gauges for oil temp and boost 200.00. New ignition for proper advance 300.00 Now this is if you find all the parts yourself and then hand them to a builder saving yourself the markup. That's the way it boils down for me on a Big Block Chevy. If you need the particulars I'm happy to spend some time to tell you what I've learned over the past year building mine. 496, 420 Megablower 4340 assembly, dual 750's, new outdrive, hundreds of incidentals and my labor. I'm hoping for 800 HP +.

Why not just bid on the Turbo motor on Ebay and be done with it...

$6000 didn't get it, Who know's how much this guy wants, no guarantees and buying someone else's mistakes and worn out head aches? I'll build my own thanks. I love to look at the guys that paid someone else for their pride and joy and know I deserve mine. I built it! :rollside:

Are you any relation to the Bobo family from Novato? Also could you post the specs on your engine and any pictures that you have?
