i took the boat out today and ran in to a little burnt piston. yikes! now i know that this was a possablity but i have lost all the drive to make this work iam gettinga tunnel ram and am going to go that route and hope that i can make the speed i want that way. the boat ran fine and had no problems till got to about 5600 rpm and started to feel a little something in the motor so i got out of it and headed for shore and took the boat home and the motor was tough to start at home which was tipycal for it. so i did a compression test and all was ok not great http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif any how i took off the valve covers and looked for things wrong in there and found nothing so i looked in the pan nothing so i went to the next step and pulled a head and # 4 was toast. oh well it was fun to see what i could do if i put my mind to it . the motr had good power and would be great for some one who understood them and had the paticents to do it right. iam getting antcy and the season is on us . so i am going to stick with what i know.. i think these are agreat way to add a ton of hp but not right for me!

    TYson,
Since you are going to rebuild the motor, why dont you stay with the turbo setup.

i just think that i would be happier with the tunnel ram and or something of that type of induction. i think i might have gotten in over my head. ! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif i thought that i could make it work for me but i also think that it is more suited towards some one with a bigger boat. were there is more space in the engien compartment! my is not that big and i dont knwo if i ll be able to close it in with that setup under there.

Tyson, Sorry to hear about your engine. Sounds like it may have run out of fuel and leaned out. If a piston is going to burn it usually is the #4, I have burnt a couple of pistons in the past and have been in the #4 hole both times but it happens at 13-14 lbs of boost or more. Fords like a slightly rich mixture and fuel pressure is critical. Your carb should be about 5-7% richer that it would be naturally asperated. What is your carb and where is the jetting? If you do sell the turbo set up what will you want for it?

well the carb is a 850 dp and the main jets are a 86 and the secondaires are 92 . and the acclerator pumps are 5.5s so thats a lot of gas but if you were intrested in the turbos iam trying to get like 2225 for them ill need the cash for a rebuild.
