I say F-it!!! 565 with a 1471 sounds about right for that bad ass cat of yours.
What would have better reliability? A 540 with a 1471 or a 565 with a 1071?
I hear the 565 is harder on the outdrive because of the stroke.
Any and all feedback is apprtiated.

NCC,
I think the motor will out live the outdrive so it is kind of a moot point. Either motor is gonna be reliable because it barely sees above 6500rpm.

Typically a 540 is a 4.5" bore x 4.25" stroke and the 565 is 4.6" bore x 4.25" stroke, are you refering to the extra 25 cubic inches because the stroke is the same?

This is true. But, I don't want to have engine issues. Once the outdrive goes I think I am going with the Max Machine Billet.
If you go with a 540 you'll have more cylinder wall left for future engine 'refreshes' .....
I myself would take the 540 with the 1471 blower cause you can turn the blower at a slower speed and create less heated charge.
why don't you do a 540 efi twin turbo system from Brummett, 1500hp, way easy on your drive/drives, low noise, very stealthy, be different !!
Can you say cha-ching$$$$$
1500hp turbo motor easy on drives??? Hahahaha that's a good one!
Maybe if the drive is a big Arneson... 1500hp turbo motor probably makes close to 1500 ft-lbs as well!
I run a 565 with a 14-71, Superchiller, lots of good internals, and a B-Max on the outside, but what the hell do I know........ TIMINATOR
