overbuilt ain`t the word for it. you`re right on Hoss.
The problem is i dont want to cut to much material off the plate. To put the pivot lower i'd have to cut off alot from the plate and i dont want to do that and make it weak.
Bro, your already "overbuilt". Cut the plate and live life.

Overbuilt, who me. I hear you though. Im gonna cut the plate down a little more and mount it directly to the plate. I figured out how im gonna do it.
Jegs sells a mini alt made by EAST COAST ELECTRIC for around $230 that is a one wire hook up. And is I think around 55 amps. Its nothing more then a Suzuki Samari alt. I have one on my hemi due to space and like the way it simplified my problem. Yea its not cheap but find a junk one and any rebuilder can fix it up for ya. Or maybe go with the direct drive Motarolla . Pricey but no more belt blues. I have the whole set up I took off that I would let go. It needs to be gone thru and shined back up. Say.... $100 plus shiping?
Mike
aren't the geo/chevy traker the same as a suzuki samari. never mind i know they are. chevy and suzuki have been the same at least since 2000
another thing we did was run it off the driveshaft. you may want to look into that.
If concidering a different alternator, consider the MSD alternator. They are very easy to adapt, different mounting brackets are available, for easy pulley alignment, and configurations.

Tightening screw is mounted through the stringer. Have to check the belt tension every so often.
