This may be a dumb question but has anyone ever tried putting a stainless sleeve on the impeller itself (where the wear ring rides)?
Seems odd that they make stainless wear rings for the housing and yet the aluminum impeller gets no additional protection.

The reason I ask is my Berkeley 'A' impeller is in very good shape otherwise but the surface that runs in the wear ring is trashed- Past the point of machining and getting and undersized wear ring (impeller surface diameter is about 7.1" on the high spots).
If I could press on a stainless ring (IE like a 'Speedi Sleeve'), I might be able to salvage the impeller and avoid more damage in the future.

Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks!

Maybe this is my million dollar idea?
