Guys, I did some playing around this weekend with an oil cooler and was a little concerned. My 21' Mini Daycruiser with a 460 gets up to about 265 degrees on the oil temperature. The engine runs at about 135 to 140 degrees. Should I be concerned or is this average oil Temp?
    Thanks.

Just putting around I've seen 215 deg oil temp, running about 140 on the water temp. No oil cooler......but so far have not seen more than that. 8 quarts in a 14 quart pan. Checked by infrared temp gauge aimed at the pan sump.

The normal range of running oil temperatures is usually about 100 degrees hotter than your water temperature.

I just got mine going again with a temp gauge this time. 8 qt pan with 8 qts in it, was running 120 with 220 on the oil. I'm sure I could bury the needle on a wide open run, but I wanna change the oil before I wood it.
And add a cooler before the season heats up.
