Need A Lil Help/info On A Flywheel. Putting Together A 460 Ford For A Jet Boat. I Have The Hardin 4 Point Mounts, With The 2 Starter Locations(top Mount And Side Mount). My Other Jet And Most I Have Seen Have The Standard Straight Drive Flywheel On Them. My Drive Line Is Flat Where It Bolts Up To Flywheel Or Power Takeoff(pto) Not Like My Other One Where There Is A Ridge That Recesses In The Pto. Do I Need A Pto Or Just Bolt It Straight To Flywheel?what Are My Options? This Is Just A Lake Boat Not A Race Setup.
    Thx Mopar

i would think that u can just bolt it straight to the flywheel...mock it up & see if it bolts flat

Thanks Fastrat, It Will Definitly Bolt Up Flat To A Flywheel. -- But What Is An Option For A Flywheel -- Can Get A New One Off Ebay But I Need To Make Sure Thats What I Need Before Ordering One. What Do All U 460 Guys Run ? Just A Standard 15.5" Manual Flywheel, Or Is There Somekind Of Flexplate That I Could Use?

    every1 i know (ford--chevy--olds etc)...runs a flex plate...thats what i would run...make sure its for a 460 (balance -int/ext)...ck with Squirtin' Thunder or 460-just-gettin-it...they may have a spare!

Like everything else in here, there's been an argument once or a dozen times over flywheel or flexplate. So far, for me, I still have never seen a valid reason to run a heavy flywheel on a jet boat. Flexplates all arround. As mentioned before, just make sure the balance configuration (internal or external) is right.
