Thread: Original Intake Location?

How far is the intake, forward from the transom, supposed to be for a typical stock install? Berk JC pump. Stock intake. Measured from the outside of the hull, of course, to the back of the opening. I believe my original installation was to far forward, causing the O-ring around the pump to miss the area of the transom housing that it should seal against. While I am in the midst of re-doing the boat would be the ideal time to resolve this issue.

No one has a clue? Or a boat with the pump in it's original location?

Seems it depends on the installer or manufacturers specs. I've seem them all over the place. Everyone seems to be setting them back as far as is practical for the application these days. It also seems to make a difference if the transom angle is "O", 9 degrees or whatever. Good luck, hope someone that knows more about this might share some info. Mine seemed to track straighter when crossing wakes before I did the setback. RB
