Thread: Typical Slip numbers

I have a 4 blade prop (bravo maybe) somewhere around a 22 pitch but it has been worked so who really knows what it is. Its on a 24 foot cat. My question is what are typical slip numbers. With a very rich mixture, the bimini up and 4 people I was turning about 5000 rpm at 63.5 mph. Now if its truely a 22 pitch then that would say its got a 8.5% slip ratio. Does that seem reasonable or is it too low? Should it be more like 10-12% meaning the prop is more like a 23 pitch?
