Ocean readiness? Need some help.

What do you peeps suggest one have on his vessel prior to going on a search for Davey Jones' Locker? I know there have been a couple of threads regarding this topic. But, I couldnt locate one. I am taking my boat out in July and want to be prepared/ coast guard approved. Thanks.

I always recommend a fire extinguisher.

VHF with charged batteries
Vessel Assist (worth every penny)
Flares
Life vests ( also wear them)
throw cushions
fire ext.
and go with someone the first time, check scopeinfo.com there is always someone out playing

This is great and boating is always better with friends. Float plan so someone knows where and when you are to be at places. The ocean is great but you must always remember that it will take some time before you get help should you need it.
I also suggest you make sure your vessel is serviced and as dependable a possible. First aid kit should always be on your boat anyway. Oh yea did I mention do not go alone you just never know what will happen.

I would suggest a map to "Davey Jones Locker" ! Hope this helps :rollside:
