We were up there about three months ago, and they let us drive in and check things out. They've cleaned it up a little bit, and you can camp there I'm pretty sure, but the rates are pretty high. I sure am heartbroken about the whole situation. We absolutely loved going up there every 4th of July. My husband has been camping there since he was a kid. Oh well, it seems nothing stays the same anymore. We will just have to start a new 4th tradition.

As of Friday June 23rd the river was not open. The Sheriff "Buford T Justice" was supposed to set the 5 mph buoys in the water, but nothing yet. We'll have a big group at Royal Oak the 4th. Open the awning, listen to tunes, drink lots of booze and float in the lagoon. Make the best of it!
