I just had Robby Gordon's place put a Donahoe kit on my '05. I think Kreg has the shock valving and spring rates nailed. Truck rides better on the freeway and MUCH better offroad than stock. His kit's 50% increase in front wheel travel makes a huge difference.
I'd also highly recommend the dual steering stabilizer kit. It takes all the factory bump steer slop away when running over bumps.
IMO Donahoe has the best kit for Ford's out there. Good luck!

On my 6" I have 315's (35)
I've put over 350K on 35's. They are a great daily driver tire without being so tall to screw up the gear ratios... Make sure he gets a good AT tire if it's just a street ride.

I have the DR 4.5" on 315/70/17 BFG All Terrains. I really like the kit. It's not the cheapest kit out there, but it's definitely worth the money.
