I am looking at purchasing a Maxum 2900 SE from Hipp Marine in SD and I need help.
They have an 05 listed at about 92k and I was wondering if boat prices are negotiable like cars? I am brand new at this. If they are how much of a discount should I be asking for and what should I have them throw into the deal.
I am also considering buying a used boat to save a lot of money but it worries me about being stuck some where with a broken boat.
I appreciate the help and look forward to joining this forum.
I think boats are alot like cars in many ways.
Prices are always negotiable, be it a car or a boat.
You can save alot of money by buying used.
I wouldn't buy a boat older than 10 years old, as replacement part become harder to find.
I think most would say avoid anything with more than 500 hours on it, unless it's a restoration project.
It sounds like you think that new boats don't break down either....that's a good one.
for that kind of money, you wouldn't find me at Hipp Marine. I'd pick up a nice gently used custom from someone on here. You could get a really nice ride.
But if you must, yes you can bargain. Make them an offer. There's probably 10 to 15 K worth of room to deal...especially on an 05.....
