You beat me to it.
Besides the obvious of cold hard green cash, what is the best way(s) to take payment?
You beat me to it.

If you take cash get one of those money-verifying pens and check it. :220v:
Wire transfer or Personal Check. No bank checks. I get those from Nigeria all the time. Read on....
They get nothing until it clears your bank. Use an account you dont use very much. Upon clearing move the money to another account in case they try some crap. Draw up a bill of sale and both sign it. Get it notarized if you have to.
When it clears give um the stuff just as agreed.
I sold a CR500 dirt bike years ago and got $2100 in Hundies. Of which the bank kicked back 4 of them. I had to go to the police station and make a report. I was out the money. :lightsabe

LOOKS FAKE!
It depends on how much money youre talking about. If it was twenty thousand or less I would ask for cash, Anything more I would go wire transfer. A cashiers check can be canceled or even no good after your boat is long gone. I would take the buyer right to his or hers bank, you can get your title notarized and pick up your cash at the same time.
LOOKS FAKE!
Not fake!!! Took it to the credit union, they used that magic pen and took every single one of those $100 dollar bills. Paid in full.
