Rudder?

I swear I just posted this but I can't find it - What are the performace differences with and without a rudder? Mine broke sometime Saturday out on the river - I only noticed after it was on the trailer, the boat seemed to drive the same. I was just searching and found that some like them and many say they make no difference? Do they? Is it only at low speed or all around? It's on my 21' ultra with a place diverter if it makes any diff.

I've never had a rudder on my 21 Skier (Shockwave).
I don't think it is needed.

When I first got my boat, it didn't have a rudder. Then when I got my Aggressor diverter, it came with a rudder. I can not tell a difference... idle speed, slow speed, high speed, whatever.
The only reason I still have the rudder on is because I just haven't taken the time to drive the roll pin out.

Thanks guys, I'll probably run it without for now - I don't think I even noticed loosing it... I just wanted to be sure I wasn't doing something dangerous or just plain stupid without it!
