Thread: plug gap

    I got new plugs this weekend and cant find any kind of gap info . the motor is a harman marine 320 hp 454 bbc stock .the plugs are autolite 26p anyone got any ideas on a gap for this motor????

    The plug gap is dictated by the type/output of the ignition/coil. With a low voltage mag the gap is .018, with a standard points/condensor, .035, with a GM type HEI the gap is .045-.060, depending on the year/output, and I think there are even systems now that ask for .090. I think with a HEI I would start at .045, it should run OK.

    remove old plug. Open new plug package. install Plug and run the dogshit out of em
    Seriously I believe the gap should be set between .035 ~ .045

    its got a merc thunderbolt distributer and a bosch blus coil
