Does anyone know how many hrs. until I can pull a tube behind the boat and when the computer releases the horsepower?

They say 20hrs for break in. I would say it will release HP when you put a Procharger or Wipple on it. You got a big boat to have that 496 make hull work good.

From what I have seen 20 to 30 hours.
Don't get too excited ...Not that many ponies are released as you put it. Motor runs leaner with some mid range pick up after the break in period.

    Dusty,
Mercury says 20 hr break-in period with no extensive idling below 1500rpm unles necessary for boat safety. First 10 hrs. vary throttle setting up to 3/4 throttle. Last 10 hrs you can use full throttle but not longer than 5 minutes at a time. Main thing is to vary the rpm so the rings get well seated. Expect to use some oil during the breakin until the rings seat. Recommend carrying a couple of quarts in the boat.
Computer in not programmed to "release". Only on the outboards.
