It takes more oil but you change it less often...I think that mine is 12k miles an oil change. I am not sure the amount of oil off the top of my head but its like 10-12qts. I love my diesel.
whats the price difference between the two as far as servicing and upkeep. such as oil changes and standard stuff like that?

I've got an 05 Chevy with the Dmax. Oil change is about $50 vs. $35 or soon the gasser, it takes more oil.
Only really big difference I've seen is the Fuel Filter. Change it every 10,000k miles or so. I don't want any injector issues. It's about $80 at a good shop I trust, I did it myself once and not again, it's worth the $80.
Other than that I love it. Milage is great compared to my 6.0L gas motor and it tows like a dream. Plus with the deal Jay Photoglou got me....it was same price as I paid for the gasser a few years back, should have called Jay sooner.
My $.02,
Chris

I like the Mega cab and CUmmins just don't like the rest of the truck and tranny...too many problems.
Dmax is pretty nice and the new LBZ version and 6 speed tranny or really nice.

get the Duramax.....
what up ari? yeah i was leaning towards that but man do i love the cab space in the mega cab. gotta see will talk to jay see what he can do.
Glad you guys said to change the oil alot less often , I just picked up a 2000 ford diesal & was going to change oil at 5,000 miles . Most of my driving is in the city so less dusty conditions .
You will see a SHOCKING difference in the towing from a gas deal to a diesel. I have the Duramax, and I absolutely love it. I am a gas engine builder, and hated the idea of a diesel, but now that I have it, you couldn't pry it from my cold dead hand. And just a programmer and a good air intake, and the thing will run real well stoplight to stoplight. At least enough to outrun 'the fast&thefurious' wannabes around town. And you will see better fuel economy after the intake and programmer.
