I have the pump out of the boat for some fiberglass work and want to re-powdercoat my bowl, intake and transom adapter. I know alot of jet boaters have had this done and I am trying to figure out about how expensive the powdercoat option is. Local shops quoted me $75 an hour but wont give me a ballpark on the amount of time to finish.

I get smokin deals at my local powder coater because they bassicly do everything we build. But to give you a rough idea the parts you listed would cost me about 50 dollars to get powder coated. I'd figure without a break you might be looking at 150-200???? with stripping.

I did my bowl, transom adapter and droop snoot for less than $200 at a A&A powder coat in So Cal.

Thanks for the feedback. I had something much scarier pictured in my mind. If I can get my parts done for what you guys did, it doesnt make sense to go any other route. Powdercoat should last for years, right? I started tryin to strip my transom adapter, what a b**ch. Sounds like I should let the powdercoaters strip em for me. Thanks guys, once again.

Dont even bother stripping it yourself, any good powdercoater will do that for you for a minimal charge. We just got a whole setup powdercoated here in PA for $175 and that included the strip. Out west im sure it will be cheaper yet. If you plan to powdercoat alot of material in your lifetime, buy the kit from eastwood corp. Its around 140.00 BUT... you also need an old oven to use , and a sandblaster would be nice. Cast parts need to be baked first to help release gas pockets from the casting. Without a prebake, your powdercoat can bubble from the outgassing. Other than than, it cleans up easy (its only powder) results are good, its durable, and it you do it at home pick up an old oven from the Want-Ads and the kit and some powder, and for around $250.00 you can get good at it and make your money back on the sides.
    Good Luck

i started the thread mentioned above about p/coating.i went ahead a bought the eastwood kit since so many here recommended it. i told a couple a buddy's about it and now i'm building a stainless oven to do headers, wheels,or whatever else. looks like a good side business to offset the "boat hobby" costs. i've already got enough parts piled up to pay for this venture,so worst case scenerio is i end up with a nice big oven and p/coat equipment without any overhead.if ya have any knowledge of painting i would try and buy the kit and try yourself.it's not hard. preparation is 90% of doing a nice job!
