Here's some pics and info on shoes/rideplates (http://home.pacbell.net/jmcclure/ShoePlate.html)
Dave, how do you deal with machining the curved ramp that leads into the pump? The backcut(when applicable) and the "ledge" for the rideplate are fairly obvious.

Cant see a whole lot from that pic. Post some better pics Dave.
What type of shoe is it, and who is it for?

here is mine installed. The bottom of my boat had some serious issues so pay no attention to how the intake is set in. The area behind the shoe was cut off and rebuilt to be even with the keel and allow the rideplate to fit. The back edge of the shoe is 1/16th above the keel line now.http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data...040229-med.JPG

Appears to be a back cut, but I'd like to hear some details...

5 deg backcut and about .300 thicker to lower the plate a little more. Biting edge will be a little lower too. Just gonna give it a try once I get the boat back together. There is enough meat to keep making it smaller till it is nearly the same as the one on the boat already. Liberty's run real flat to begin, but I figured I might as well try it and see what happens. But I was told by the prior owner .....Don't move anything! :rollside:
Oldsquirt, I probably should have used a ball end mill to fillet the back cut, but at that time I just figured I'd use the die grinder. Gonna do the same for the opposite side of the shoe. Front edge is square to start w/ at this time (no curve). Those guys up north seem to be doing just fine w/ some stuff that down here is not the norm. This will also close off the intake a little. I can always make adjustments (put the curve back in or ?) to it later. :boxed:

What did you do, give the guy a discount and not use the inserted cutter?
I know you have one, charge him full price and send him home with a shiny part.
