Ok i might sound like a fool but what is that coating that I see on a lot of rebuilt hulls, looks like splatter paint and some is tinted to the exterior color of the boat. Is it gel, epoxy, paint??? Im rebuilding the whole inside of my tahiti and would like to top it off with that nice coating......and how is it applied, with a hvlp or conventional gun? :skull: :skull: :skull: :argue: :argue:

this is my tahiti.. If this is what your talking about i think most guys do it with gel.
I had left over paint so i sprayed the bilge white then just used a brush to fling grey and blue over the top then put a coat of clear on it. It's held up great so far and is really easy to clean.

I have no clue how resistant gel is i'd think pretty good.
I've been using mine for 3 seasons. NO problems yet looks like it did day 1, water, oil, gas, all that good stuff gets on it and it whips right up. I do clean it after every outing though so i'm sure that helps it last.

oh ya make sure you prep the bilge area very well it's had oil and fuel on it. clean it first then prep it clean it agian and when your sure it's 100% clean paint it. The paint wont last long at all if it's not completely clean.

That looks great. is the whole interior that way, or just the bilge? restoring my boat now, so getting some ideas, instead of just carpet.

    Thanks
i just did the bilge. The rest is carpet the area under the gunnel uncoated is where the tank sits then tahts covered by large side panels that go all the way back. So all visable areas are either painted, carpeted or interior.
it's hard to see in this pic

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/...oatfest010.jpg my floor was done with white gel coat and webbing solution, you just brush or roll the white gel on,and while it is still wet , you spray on the webbing solution . it is resistant to almost everything, looks good and lasts good!
