After five years I got my Hallett mini wet. Thank you to all who helped out with the ignition questions as that was not an issue on the lake.
There were two issues. The engine runs good (single carb Race Aero turbo) idling but when I opened the throttle I get lots of black smoke out the exhaust and it bucks badly. I lowered the float heights by hand but without tools it was just a guess. The boat runs much better but my question was where do you all set your float heights? I was thinking about 1/16" below the sight hole for both primary and secondary.
The second issue was the slow drip from the v-drive for the last five years is really not slow when the shaft is spinning. It flung gear oil all over floor. Not good. I ordered a gasket set from Rex. My question is what next. I can take the v-drive apart but do I need to maintain the shaft alignment when I put it back together?
Thanks in advance.
