I'll go a step further, put in a Pro lite, big bright one, right in your face. AND install a mechanical oil pressure gauge, back by the motor is OK, that you can see from the drivers seat, to verify the electrical is accurate............MP
PS: Don't let those "Olds" stories scare you, with the right stuff they are teriffic engines and make tons of torque. Just don't try to RPM it like a chevy.
