American Turbine pump, top mount to a 502 BBC. The original starter that came with the boat is getting weak. I have an open engine conpartment so dont see the need for another marine starter. Does anyone have a part number to cross since the auto parts stores cant do any thing any more with out a year and model of a car. Or are there better years or part numbers to use?

Just in case you didnt know you will need a reverse rotation starter for that top mount. I would call REX Marine and get one of those hi tourqe mini starters that they sell for your appliucation, you will end up with a POS starter if you go with the auto part store.

What kind of starter is on there now? If it's a decent one, I would get it rebuilt, you won't have to deal with the teeth meshing correctly like you sometimes need to do on new ones.
Are you sure the starter is getting weak and not the battery? You could take the starter down to a shop and have them check it, if it's bad have them rebuild it.
