Also in 2006 an extremely strong contingent of Cracker Boxes (over 20) whose unique “hard chine” flatbottom design is the oldest continuous class in the APBA will be on hand with the defending National Champions, Steve Tustison & Jeff Hansen #P74 “Hotwire” from San Juan Capistrano, who too will be looking for an elusive third consecutive National Championship Title. Former APBA champion Jerry Ross, P69 “The Enemy” and his daughter Amy Ross P96 “California Girls” and a vast array of boats will be there to try to stop the team of Tustison and Hansen.
Next up, round #5 of the Western Pro Stock Racing Association championship series will see if defending Long Beach Sprint Nationals and APBA Champion, Aussie native Chris Kenner in the PS681 “Loud & Proud” can hold off the field of 12+ Pro Stock inboard flatbottom boats including the fully encapsulated Biesmeyer hull of Jeff Wooton PS346 “The Rocket” (Pasadena, CA) in a duel on water with boats reaching speeds upwards of 120 miles/hour down the straightaways.
The 3rd stop on the Western Formula Light Series tour should see some 15+ teams including the current series points leader, the brother team of Shawn (#12) and Spencer (#24) Love from Thousand Oaks, CA looking for a win against past Long Beach Champion R.J. West #45 (Red Line Oil) and Team UFLÂ’s Jeff Schmitt, #49 in his bright yellow and black hull from Olympia, WA. Other local favorites are Chris Henderson #86 (San Pedro, CA) and Sean Comer in #93 Skelton Racing Team out of Newhall, CA.
