 I think I fried my grinder, but I did manage to get the floor, stringers, and transom out before it died.
I am thinking about having a belly tank made. Do the stringers provide support for the hull, or just for the floor??? I would like to eliminate the 15 gallon tanks that were on both sides from the transom to the dash.
Oh yea, I don't think it's gonna be done by Memorial Day weekend, so you'll just have to meet me at Platter Flats on my Pontoon. It'll work for now.
    Thanks,
    Kirk

How would you put a belly tank in a open bow? Keep the side tanks.

The stringers MUST be there, with or without a floor. Man that thing is a mess, I think the new floor should be removeable, so you can see what is under it, and allow it to dry out. Was that boat ever sunk?? Or can I figure my Tahiti is going to look like that if I ever get a chance to look "down there".........MP

WOW . When I picked up my shell I guess I got lucky and the floor was already gone but I still think I got you beat.

    Kirk,
It's looking good! The stringers in the rear of course need to be there for pump & motor mounts. The little bulkhead at the front of the bilge is there for the back of the floor to rest on, and the stringer up the middle is really just a support for the middle of the floor. When I did mine, I put a drainplug in the center of the bilge, and then cut out just a bit of the rear of the center stringer so that water could drain from both sides out the drain. Make sure that you don't have glass build up before the hole- pour a little water in there and let it drain into the bilge before you put the floor back. I also put some round plastic removable floor plates in the front & rear so that I could open them and let it air out while not in use.
IF you get to looking at it, I really dont think you have enough room under the floor for a tank of useable size. do the math...that sshould tell you.
Another thought...keeping the weight to the rear of the boat will be a big advantage as far as getting on plane...a belly tank will only move your weight forward. At 8 lbs per gallon, it adds up quick.
Give me a call if you would like before you start putting it back together. It'd be much easier than typing a book!
