I just got home from a two week vacation in Calif. with the family.
I already see my planning sucked. I missed Long Beach.
Spent the first week in L.A. Disney, Knotts and my favorite the Petersen Auto Musuem.
Second week was split between SanJose and Oakhurst.
Friday we went to Bass Lake. Didnt see any v-drives. Do any of you guys use it? It was busy with Ski boats and Pontoon boats. Looked plenty ruff.
Did see one 25 to 30 foot cat and a V bottom about the same length.
There was also a guy in a jetboat.
Seems like a great lake. Where are the other good lakes in Northern Cal?
We went thru Merced, I didnt see any water.
    And Shasta looked pretty low.

If you would have hooked a right in Merced and went into the foothills, you would have been at Lake Don Pedro. That blows Bass Lake away. Not near as many rules. No grumpy people living right on the water. Much bigger than Bass.

We came across on the 140 from Mariposa to Merced.
Was I close to lake Don Pedro?
I also heard a rumor that Bass lake is where they filmed some of the movie the Great Outdoors with John Candy. :rollside:

Yes... that is where the Great Outdoors was filmed. Bass Lake is a fun lake to hit but it isn't a smooth lake until all the vacationers quit going. I plan to run my boat up there at the end of September... or as soon as the lake patrol gets off the lake, that is when it is fun and smooth. Also the classic v-drive club just had a show there in may of 06. There will be another show in 07 in either may or april, date pending.

    Thanks Scottwizer
It looked pretty darn rough when we were there.
I was told that lots of people from the San Fran area vacation there.
    It is a beautiful lake.
