    Hi All,
Hope its ok to post this here ( hey its basically a flatbottom and an inboard). I'm building a Crackerbox and would like to hear comments on them, and any building hints. Also any suppliers for a 10 degree strut and wedge rudder other than Glenwood marine. Web search comes up slim. I have a 400+HP 350 Chevy and am going with a 10 degree strut and a "bobtail" driveline.

Most of the ones I have seen have external steering. Is your rudder inboard or external?
For the sturt a few people are making custom struts. Schiada96 right here on this forum is making me a custom 7.25 degree drop through strut right now. I'm sure he can do a 10 degree no problem. Is yours going to bolt on the bottom or be a drop through?
I love crackers. I'ed love to see some pics of your project.
I posted a bunch of pics in the media center of crackers that I took at the last long beach race.

    Superdave,
Thanks for the reply. I'm looking to keep it simple and use a bolt-on strut. I am also going to use an external rudder. I've spoken to a couple of racers and am mounting the strut back to within about 5 inches of the transom. That coupled with using a circle track low profile oil pan and no tranny will help move the motor back as well as down in the boat to lower the engine profile and move its C.G. down too. Top it off with a nicely stained mahogany deck with a clear coat.

    Hey Topgun!
I told you there'd be some cracker lovers on this forum. Glad you made it. Welcome.
I'd forgotten about SuperDave's love affair with the crackerbox design, too.

Hey guys, Dont forget SKED builds all sorts of hardware for Jersey Skiffs and I'm sure this is similar to crackers. His stuff is first class, right superdave? Did you forget? SPAM SPAM.... His handle is JSSS88. If you want to email me I will send his phone or address! He is also a 25 year circle racing veteran from the East Coast and if he doesnt have it, he can make it or find it! Great to see new blood and welcome! We allow cracker boxes to race in our Nostalgia races without the rider on board! Sound interesting? smile_sp CircularJeRk smile_sp

He just posted overall shots and you could not see the rigging. But the paint looked good. I'm sure he does, just I have not seen it first hand.
    So no, I didn't forget.

    Topgun.
Crackerbox's are certainly welcome here! Tell us more about your project. Are you building the hull or is it existing? If so, what make is the hull? I assume that from your description it will be a "fun" boat rather than a racer. I have a close friend that races Crackers in Northern Calif. and there is a Cracker Club that publishes a newsletter (the "Cracker Wrapper") It has boats/parts for sale. If you're interested send me an e-mail and I will send you the contact info.
    Good luck,
    S&S
