My Take On It Is Miami Has To Win By More Than 4 Points....the -110 Means You Have To Bet 110 To Win 100 And 37 1/2 Is The Total Points Both Teams Are Going To Score (over/under)....so You Can Bet This A Few Different Ways.....
So I know the gist of it, but I never really got into it. Now the new NFL season is coming and its time for the betting. Now I was looking at the spread @ www.pointspread.com Lets say for the first game it reads like this:
Miami Vs. -4 - 110
Pittsburgh 37 1/2
Now I know that the favorite is listed with the nevagtive sign and the following # is what they are to win by...but what does the (110) and (37 1/2) stand for???
Thanks in advance.

hmm...ok that makes sense. Are these types of spreads for the most part pretty accurate??
Its Pretty Amazing How Accurate The Points Usually Are. Nfl Football Is By Far The Biggest Money Mover When It Comes To Sports Betting. The Casinos Hire The Best People Who Set The Spreads And Somehow They Win Way More Than They Lose....if You Are Looking To Make Money You Want To Do The Ncaa Basketball Tournament, It Has The Biggest Upsets And The Points Usually Get All Fed Up For Some Reason.....

...after some time you will swear that teams are "on the take"
Hence the phrase in betting: "the fix is in"...
When betting in Vegas, make sure you shop around the spreads, different casinos have different spread on the same games. Look for the one that you find the most favorable, especially when betting on "season long" bets like who is going to win the superbowl. There is a lot of money to be made when betting on longshots here but only when you shop.
I plan on betting a little in vegas this season, but I was mainly looking at it for the Football Pool here @ work. A good $200 a week to be won. :crossx: I did really well last year in this, but played off Yahoo's top picks... Figured it was time to learn the betting game.
