Iwas in Maui the week after Hurrican Iniki went through there and there was
a sailboat about 60 feet long on the beach along with others that had washed up there and when I walked up to it it was sitting on it's side and was at least 8' tall. Noone was doing anything about it and everyday it sand
lower and lower into the sand. About 5 days later they put this huge rope
around it and hooked it up to a big tug boat and after pumping it out for about 8 hours, they tried to move it and ended up breaking it right in half.
The next 2 days were spent cutting it up and hauling it off. quite a shame
but they really do sink faster than you think in the sand.
