Buy at least an 04..The 02 and 03's werent very good(Handling wise) also they had some valve issues. The 04's are much better, and the 05's are ALOT better

i'm guessing the reasoning for an '02 is the green sticker... i was undecided between a 250 2stroke or 450 4stroke. since i want a green stickered bike i would have to get a 2002 or older. seeing how cheap and easy it is to rebuild a 2 stroke i think it would be in my (and possibly yours n8) best interest to go for a 2002 2 stroke 250. just a thought.

Yep it's all about the GREEN STICKER! But I was just told about a problem with the '02-'05 CRF450R's with sucking valves. Anybody have any info on this? What about a '02 Yamaha YZ426F? Any problems?
Really would like to get a four stroke. My fiance' rides/races a KX125.

    And she's green stickers till 2008 !!
    $2800 and it's all yours.
BTW: Just had Honda check the valves and all was good.

I think all of the newer 4-strokes are going to have reliability issues over time. Manufactures are squeezing as much power as they can out of these things, so it's inevitable. That said you'll probably be fine if you maintain your bike properly
