Great article in the NY times yesterday. Now I don't have time to argue with you people that are STILL (I can't believe it) drunk on the Carl Rove juice but remember when it was said by the corp elites that globalization and corporations will raise standards around the world?
Well here we have some minor proposed labor rules and enforcement powers to the workers and what do the elites say. --- "Screw you China, we will just pack up and move to another country."

If you are in the slow group and can't seem to figure out that capitalism is what has improved our quality of life please refer to the photo of North Korea from the air at night. Compare that to South Korea or any other capitalist influenced country. Capitalism has created more opportunities and a better way of life for all of us. Wake up!

Ok Freak, I give. What has Carl Rove got to do with it?
Since you have brought forth a "great article" explain why you view it as "great". They talk about foreign corps in China being against union labor, but please tell me how this is driven by Rove.
Socialism and Chinese government control of labor seem to pop out at me. But I really want to hear your take while I chew on how the whole thing works.
    Well?

Isn't that nice. You don't have the time to explain to us poor brain-deaad buffoons why you think this pap-smear is a good news article.
    Now, shortly this:
China’s economy has become one of the most robust in the world since the emphasis on free markets in the 80’s encouraged millions of young workers to labor for low wages at companies that made cheap exports. As a result, foreign investment has poured into China.
Will be replaced with government run businesses (should I bring up references to the Soviet Union or Cuba's confiscation of all businesses after the rise of Fidel) which will be controlled by corrupt politicians on the take, the foreign investment will leave, and the Chinese economy will enjoy a flat-spin plummet the likes of which haven't been seen since the F-14 in Top Gun.
How WAS that wonderfully efficient Soviet business system model working out anyhow?????
What are you going to bring up when this happens??

China Labor Watch welcomes the new labor contract law that the Chinese government is drafting. The proposed new law includes specific stipulations to protect Chinese workers' rights. It emphasizes the role of the All China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), the official labor union affiliated with the Communist Party, strengthens the power of the law enforcement agencies and raises penalties on labor law violations. The new labor law, if passed, will provide greater protection for Chinese workers.
The key issue in the ineffective protection of workers under the Chinese labor law, however, is that Chinese workers do not have freedom of association and are not the subject of collective bargaining (while collective contracts are written in the law for state-owned enterprises, workers are not involved in the negotiation process at all). In addition, the ACFTU and the local government are more concerned about investment and economic growth than protecting workers' rights. Hence, labor law was unable to defend fairness and justice for workers.
We believe that the Chinese government should bring in greater representation of the civil society to the drafting and enforcement of the new labor law, legitimize labor NGOs' existence and operation, and experiment with independent labor unions in selected cities to protect Chinese workers' interest along with the AFCTU.

Sweet. I was kinda worried about an eventual showdown with China but not anymore. Once the union thugs and commie bosses get hooked up and crank up the level of corruption to teamster/UAW levels the whole country will be F**ked!!! No doubt this was a brilliant strategy implemented by our spies deep within China posing as union sympathizers.

Dammit Smokin' you've thrown out facts and gone and scared ol' Freak off again. I wanted to hear how Carl Rove the liberal perceived "Shaper of the Universe" has managed another of his clandestine ops.

I wanted to know that myself, but not knowing is probably safer.
They've dissapeared because the black Suburbans showed up (the ""EVOR (x)" ) license plates were a dead giveaway (did I say "dead"?). You may not see them again. They are being used as test-subjects for the new "facilities" to "re-educate" the 9/11 conspiracists who discovered "the real truth".
