I would'nt worry so much on the pulling it up the grade as much as STOPPING down the grade IMO
This is absolutely the best advise anyone has said in here.........Wmc is asking for trouble in that f150.

I tow mine with my Rhino. The speed is never slower than 65mph with pedal to the floor.

You're just jealous because I don't use a picture of you for my desktop.....yet.
Right no I dont have a truck to pull mine.I just use my friends Dodge 1500 4.7 liter if I need it and it does ok on flat grades.I would use about 115.00 in gas each way from Riverside to Parker with it.I think because of the small motor when on grades it would really suck down fuel.I go to Parker alot so now I spend 150.00 a month for storage.Alot cheaper and 1 hour quicker to get there.I have some friends that have trucks that go to the river and have no boat so we will use there truck to launch the boat.No truck payment and no gas for towing.Nice to have friends pitch in.
I have an Avalanche with a 5.3. Wondering how that would work going up the grade on I-10.
Hope you are still within warranty or have the extended one!!!
I went through a transmission pretty quick in my old '02 Yukon (5.3L) towing a Magic Deckboat from Corona to Havi 3-4 times.
I don't have a magic deckboat,so i can't tell you
So you are going with a Magic now?
Not sure, just checking all the nice looking decks out there. I was by there yesterday and they had several boats ready to go, choose your engine and you're ready to go.
Wanna Bet??? :argue:
Great... Does this mean there will be a line?
the 2 things that would concern me are the tranny and the "being able to stop and/or maneuver quickly" . The tranny simply isn't going to put up with
towing that much weight in 100+ degree heat going 75+ mph or better.
The bit about the vehicle reminds me of a guy who would put his deckboat
in the water and then take it home with a cj5 Jeep. since it was a quick 2 mile ride, the jeep didn't worry about the tranny or the power but one day
someone ahead slammed on the brakes unexpectedly and although the
deckboat trailer had good brakes, it ended up pushing the jeep sideways
through the intersection ahead. in other words, it tossed the jeep around
like a ragdoll. If the suspension, or the wheel length or the weight of the
tow vehicle isn't right, you're going to eventually wreck the vehicle. Not good.
