I need to clean out my gas tanks so that they can be podercoated, whats the best way to do this. I was told by the shop to get some solvent and a old bicycle chain but so far finding solvent is proving to be difficult.. People keep trying to sell me ChemDip...
My dad used to work on a printing press and would bring home these 5 gallen drums of what we allways called solvent, it was very thin and cleaned just about anything. Anybody know where i can get some of that..
Also these tanks are aluminum!
There is a product called Alumaprep . One bottle is the cleaner and the other is the prep for painting. Also CRC aluminum pontoon hull cleaner could be used .

Get a gallon can of parts dip, pour into one tank slosh it around then pour into the other tank. You'll still be able to use the dip later and the tanks will be perfectly clean.

Yup, they should have it at the local auto parts store.
