...and no, not the kind you smoke ! Has anyone used this stuff ? It seems kinda expensive, but then again I won't need a gardener anymore either. Some of it looks pretty nice...but some I have seen looks really cheap. Any suggestions, or pics ?

Dude... I have it, well had it at the house I just sold... It was AWESOME!!!! I got it thru Synlawn in San Diego. They were one of the only companies at the time. You will love it. It is guaranteed not to fade 2% in 7 years!!!! The sh&t held up great. I had a putting green around the pool with little inclines and tall rough areas around the edges. I also had it in the front yard. Iput in 2000 sq feet total... at $9.00 a sq foot, it was NOT cheap... But I will do it again!!!! it is the shiat!!!!!
no mow + no water = more river time!!!!! always looked killer!

I just started looking into this exact thing a week a go or so. It seems to be a viable option! No more weeds, lawnmowing watering etc! This is one site I have been checking on grass (http://www.syntheticgrass.com.au/)

My parents have been looking at the waterless grass stuff. Seems to go for about $9-12 per sq foot installed.

The stuff kicks ass.......doesn't feel plastic'y or anything. I've seen some cheap versions. The stuff I want to install is about 12 bucks a square foot. That includes excavation and the complete installation. Nice long blades.....I'll pm you the info tomorrow.

I looked at them too, the stuff was unreal. I liked the way they mixed in different blades and a few brown blades here and there. If it keeps looking like the stuff in the showroom it's worth it. I'd plan on a 10 year life.
I would guess if you have messy trees or dogs it might be a problem? I am tired of dumping water on my small patch of sure.
Seems way to easy to install which cuts the price in half according to the Synlawn guys over here in AZ.

Heard most if not all the hotels and casinos in Las Vegas have this grass.

I'm replacing one of my lawns with it, it is 900'. We just got 3 quotes this week. I did the demo work and the quotes ranged from 6200 for some OK stuff to 8200 for some that we really like. I'm trying to get the 8200 to come down a little bit. He's going to call back tomorrow.
The turn-around for our project is going to be 2-3 weeks, from contract to completion.
I plan to replace all 4 of my lawns, about 5000' eventually. My water bill was at least $70 a month in the summer. 2 years ago I sodded bermuda on an 800' patch I built a playground for the kids with and found out that I am allergic to it. The gophers completely took over since I rarely went up there.
No more watering, weeds, mowing, gophers, fertilizing, dead patches.....
It's an easy sell for me. We'll probably go with a manufacturer that has a brown thatch layer under the blades, which I like because it looks more natural up close. It also has a built in rubber pad, 2 weed barriers and is held together with velcro instead of glue. The installer will also put a layer of rubber over it to hold it down and pad it.
I'd suggest going to a home and garden show to talk to the contractors and see the different products. Also, when you schedule an appontment, let them know that you want them to leave you some samples. 2 of the people that gave us quotes didn't have samples. It makes the comparison more difficult, especially since I wasn't able to be home for them.
I'm definitely going to watch the installation closely, since I'll probably try to do it myself on the next one.
