I have been told yes and no, some say you need special gaskets in the carb ? Just curious.

you should be okay with a regular carb. It is after all, gasoline.

As CC said. Perhaps many years ago special gaskets were good advice, but I don't think now.

Av gas isn't what it used to be. 100LL is 100 octane Low Lead. Terible Herbst sells 100 at the pump as well. It is different than Av gas, but still 100. Yes, you can run Av gas anywhere you would run 93, 91, 89, pump gas, and/or mix it with what ever you like........MP

How much AV fuel is required to bump gas up 1 octane point (per gallon)?

remember algebra? In this case we call it stoichiometry. Now, the math.
if you ad 1 gal 100 oct to 1 gal 92 oct you'll have 2 gals of 96 octane rating fuel. So to answer your question...ad exactly 18.28 liquid ounces of 100 octane rated fuel to 1 gallon of 92 octane to give the mix a rating of 93.
ad 42.66 ounces of 100 per gal of 92 to get 170.66 ounces of 94
ad 76.88 ounces of 100 per gal of 92 to get 204.88 ounces of 95
    128 liquid ounces = 1 U.S. gallon
to make 1 gallon 93 octane from 92 and 100, mix 16 ounces of 100 oct to 112 ounces of 92 oct.
I expect someone will check my math.
Now, two shots of rum and 1/4 cup of ice...that's a start!

The only place to get "good" quality AV gas is at a distributor or the airport, it is gas and will not harm gaskets in carbs, but be aware even though it has lead it is still very dry, Marvel should be added to it to things lubricated!..

i second the motion on the marvel mystery oil. it helps the valve guides.

Also keeps the fuel lines and throttle shafts lubricated, and it's also a great leak detector!..

Be forwarned once you use it you won't be willing to use the 92 crap again.
My daughter and boyfriend have my old v-drive and i kind of told a lie when I said the engine had to have atleast 105 to run right. :coffeycup
