Yes, pretty much. If you run small percentages you can stay with your existing nozzels and just change the pill when adding nitro. It wont give you very much, but is a more stable tuning option than anything else. And if you are in higher altitudes and need a tenth or two, small nitro percentages are the most reliable way to get it.
Check this link out for some good info.

This is exactly the way we did it in Midgets. Ran a Joe Hunt magneto.......
Only difference was the use of carbueration instead of injection. We did run a little less nitro in a 50 lap main versus a thirty.

Dead on. I have two motors, both on alcohol. One is a blown injected 392 with a 4-port hilborn, the other an injected 496 with an enderle on a tunnel ram. The blown motor would NOT work with an electronic ignition. I chased every problem in the world trying to figure out what was holding the motor back. I replaced the MSD with a Supermag IV and it came to life. The blown injected motor uses WAY more fuel and needed the mag. The injected motor could run on the electronic ignition, but it was an improvement by putting on a Vertex. And, I will occasionally run small percentages of nitro in the tank, so the mag just makes sure it will have the spark at over 7000 for the alcohol/nitro mix. Personally, I would never run electronic ignition and alcohol at the same time.
Thanks for the info, what kind of mag would you suggest? this is 440 mopar could I use a alky or nitro car mag?

I would use a SuperMag 3 or 4. They are good and reliable and will do the job well. You should be able to use a 426 mag, and there are a lot of them out there. Hopefully the price is cheap, my 392 mag with drive (dont forget you need the drive) was $375. Most 392 stuff is a little higher in price.

    Drive???
The mag can be 'driven' from a number of areas. The mag in the Mallory and MSD form come in two pieces, the mag itself and the drive it attaches to. The mag in the link below is driven off the front cover of an early model hemi.

This unit is the drive for the supermag to be driven off the standard distributor drive on a chevy.

And here is a mag without the drive

Usually you can find a mag for the late hemi B/RB and it has the drive with mag and looks just like a distributor. You can also use a Vertex, Taylor or Joe Hunt mag and they are one piece units.

    Hope that helps.
