    this might be a dumb question but im still learning,can you put new lifters on an old cam.i have a lifter that will not pump up it ticks real bad.

    yes you can run new lifters on a used cam but never run used lifters unless they are put back on the original cam and on the same lobe they came off.

    Common problem, could be varnished lifter that needs a flushing or replacing orrr: readjust the preload. Set the rockers at 1/4 less turn down than normal. You can back off to 10 to 20 thou preload and sometimes stop the noise. Performance will not suffer and if fact sometimes improves. Thats just one JeRks opinion...... smile_sp
