Thru transom exhaust or better exhaust, chip and breather if EFI and different prop.

I recently purchased a 2002 Baja outlaw 20, with the only engine package available, the mercruiser 5.0/alpha one. This is my 1st boat and I would like to get more hp, with out loosing reliability, and I don’t know much about engine or upgrades for it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same dilemma. I guess a thru-transom exhaust would help, however significnat $$$$ for the HP increase. Didn't know there was an ECM chip upgrade available....who carries these chips??
Thanks
You can't install a chip into a Mercury Marine EFI (they don't have replaceable chips).
You have the two barrel carb model. Add an Edelbrock four barrel intake manifold and marine carb. Probably more reliable than the stock Mercruiser two barrel carb. Call Edelbrock for assistance, they have a tech line and are a big help.
