Just wondering... Why dont we see desiel motors in jet/vdrive's? It seams like the desiels that are in the trucks these days can easily make a huge amount of torque and decient HP power with just a simple computer tweak.

Plus they stink!!
Save the desiel for the tow vehicle or a fishing boat.
Or diesel.
they don't rpm very quicklyor very high.
Or diesel.
I hate em so much I cant remember how to spell it.

Yes, and the gearcase gearing needed to get an acceptable output shaft speed would generate a very high idle shaft RPM as well as greatly reduce the huge ammounts of torque available to the drive. Diesels have a very low max RPM, and as such a very narrow opperating RPM range, since the idle RPM is pretty normal.
And yea, they ARE damn heavy sum-beeches.
D-Max weighs about the same as an all iron BBC...
Gale Banks is working on some killer diesel kits. However, even give the same power output the diesel will cost far more to get there.
what rpm do they usually max out at?
The 6.9L (420) out of my truck was governed at 4,000RPM, idle was 800.
