What would a good comp. ratio for a non blown injected engine on alky be? Im thinking 13.5/14.0:1 what do all of you gurus think? I was going to run 12.5 but that just doesnt seem enough to me. Running Iron heads with 320 runners

tim, ive allways heard the same numbers as what you posted. 13.5:1-14:1 any more will be hard to accomplish without spending some serious cash on head work and pistons. i sure hope you askin because you want to make the SWTD run on booze. ive allways wanted to make an alky motor for the VW buggy. dont even need the cooling fan they burn so cool. just dont like not being able to see the flames when the unfortunate happens.

Just get all you can get. The more the better. After about 14.1 it get's tricky...but get all you can. Alcohol loves it.

Can't say enough about Alky. Ran 14 to 1 in a midget--then toyed with some pop. Went 50 lap mains--no problem...Steve

Thanx fiat, I know the more the better, but after about 15:1 you risk detination. The pistons I have for the SWTD alky engine would of been fine, but im trying for the best all around combo. The pistons were for a 6.135 rod and I could gain a bit more corect rod angle with a 6.385 rod and a 4" stroke. The only problem is finding a piston to net 14 or 15 to 1 compression that is a shelf piston.
Vic, yes the swtd is going to be a T ram injected boozer.
Also vic, can i barrow your valve spring compressor?
