What's the reason for the rising diesel prices this time. I haven't really heard much about it on the news lately.

Fule prices have been rising for about the last week, they say that it is due to Iran and Nuclear weapon worries. BS if you ask me, Diesel is the by product of manufacturing regular fuel, if they didn't invent an engine to burn it some 40 years ago it would be getting thrown out with the bath water. I've also heard a couple of other theries as to why it is more expensive then regular fuel, They are having to ship so much of it to Iraq to run our Military vehicles that it is creating a shortage in the states also, The supply and demand has increased so much do to Baby Boomers retiring and traveling with their big Diesel Pusher RV's or Crew Cab trucks hauling Travel Trailers, who knows...

40 years ago? Otto invented his engine in 1892.
My theory is greed on the part of the oil companies. They started looking at the number of diesel trucks (3/4 and 1 ton) being purchased and the $5K+ option to upgrade from a gasser to an oil burner and figured that if people can afford that kind of option they should have no problem paying around the prices of premium gas, and it stopped there for a while. Now it's typically more than premium and they're claiming it's because of the reformulation that has to be done to meet the new emissions standards. Yeah, it's being reformulated to beat last years record profits. :notam:
