    Fiat48,
I guess there are more TR-1's floating around than I thought. Do you use your boat for lake or race?

They are not plentiful by any means but there a few survivors. Probably not quite as fast as the other Cole bottoms, but they are still plenty good. I put together mine to run the 8 second class but there has been no time or money to run it this year, so it's a garage queen. So, it may become a lake boat.

    Fiat48,
That is a great looking boat. I have the same metal trim going around the outside, same plate set up, same cav spring set up.
My boat is a 1977, baby blue with no graphics.
Does your ride hop around at all before it takes a set?
    Cole Man.

No, but it does tend to fly a little too high out of the gate. Typical for it's strut angle. The hoping around is probably your driving. The timing of plating the boat when setting it. You need a good driver (like Tony Scarleta) to give you a driving lesson. I'm sure there are others on this board also.
It also wouldn't hurt to check the following dimensions:
Back of the strut barrel to end of the cavitation plate.
Vdrive plate measurement from the back of the transom.
Motor location measured from the inside of the transom to the front motor mount plate.
And if you run a blown motor, do you have enough plate travel to hold the boat?
Setting a flat is kind of an art. Some guys have it and some don't. Takes a lot of practice. It's hard to expain but a flat is driven by your ass, not your eyes.

    Fiat48,
What kind of top end speed are you seeing?
I have yet to take my boat to a drag race, but I have recorded 108 mph on the GPS.

Thanks for the pictures, I feel like IÂ’m on the right track now. My boat launches fine I just canÂ’t get it to take a nice set like flat48 avatar picture. Flat48 and the rest of you guys do you have any pictures of your TR1Â’s on a set? I would like to see them if you do.

The boat was formerly an unblown 468 which ran 100 mph. I changed the boat to blown alcohol when I got it last year. It's first race was Chowchilla where we ran 125 mph while working on the boats handling problems and trying to make the driver (me) remember what the pedals are for after being out of a flatbottom for 16 years. The 2nd race was Dexter Oregon where we ran a conservatice 129 mph (8.03 I think)with the blower 4% underdriven and the driver starting to get the rust out. But not enough plate travel was a large issue that I addressed when I got home. The boat hasn't been back out yet.

we ran a conservatice 129 mph. Wow!! What gear and prop combo are you running? I have a 22 gear with 11 1/4 X 16 Prop. I sure would like to see your boat at red rock?

11 3/8 x 16 Menkins and 32 gears. It really needs a 35 (rare) gear but haven't found any. I don't know where Red Rock is, just have heard the guys talking.

I don't know where Red Rock is, just have heard the guys talking. It's a good time lots of flatties your tr1 would fit right in. Good group of pepole too.
