    Hello Everyone,
My name is John I live here in So. Ca. (Oak View) and have been really impressed by this site, and the knowledge floating around these forums. So I finally posted a pic. (had to run out to the lake today and take it), any excuse works to get the boat out on the water!!!
Anyway This is my first boat since I was a kid, its a 71 Kona with a 455 and since I cant seem to blow it up I am getting ready to pull it apart give it do-over. I am looking forward to getting to know you crazy suckers and sharing some tech talk, And you ladies, dont be shy, the passenger seat is always empty,
    well......not quite always

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
If you have tried to break it and it's still holding together.........don't pull it apart. You might do more harm than good. Plenty of others break there stuff all the time and spend a whole lot trying to fix it!
    Welcome to the boards.

Doz, if you have a bullit proof 455 don't touch it!! If you must play around, buy another 455 and play all you want, but don't mess with the good one. When the toy is done put the present motor over in the corner as a complete running unit. That way when the toy gernades you'll have it to fall back on. I have a good running 455 in a vdrive hydro and wouldn't think of messing with it. Once they're right, they're right, (unlike a BBC), leave it alone............MP

Going fast never killed anyone, its just that sudden stop that hurts.

What type of Kona do You have,Cruiser or Ski hull.I have a 73 Kona ski hull, that I am doing a full restoration on.
    I am doing a pump swap,Jaccuzi to Berk,with a setback.
The power will come from a stroked and bored 454bbc for 489 cubic in,with an upgraded bottom,2bolt to 4bolt main.
Any way I dont see to many Kona's,and would be intrested in seeing some pic's of Yours...Hal

Looks good! Nice foundation to start with. Is that a water shut off valve mounted to your stringer?
