Last year I found an old 1966 Lavey Craft lookin for
love and I just had to buy her. At first it was a
tussle with my wife but when she saw it in person she was also bitten. The guy we bought it from
bought it for the 427 corvette in it.I've had
a 455 olds hanging around so that's what's
going in it. Does anyone know anything about
the history of these old Laveys. My serial # is
135. I have not been able to find anyone that
knows anything except the early ones were built
in a garage. I would appreciate anything.
thanks......v-drive

Thanks, I appreciate the pictures. v-drive
V-drive, I own a 67 Lavey, its a good boat with the same quality construction the Mandellas are known for. They are laid up in a "clamshell" mold meaning the hulls are one piece [no deck cap]and it seems to have the strength of a dugout canoe. The boats were built by Al Lavey who started building boats about 1953 and was one of the pioneers of the "California V-drive" It is a classic and deserves a good restoration, good luck with your project.
Thanks for your reply. We just knew these boats were special. From the first time we saw it we
we were hooked. Thanks again. v-drive
I was going to say, I think 058 own's a Lavey.
