Thread: Impeller ?

The below chart is from American Turbine edited by me. Their chart stops at 550 horsepower; I interpolated to 1000 HP. I don't have dyno data to back it up but many here do and can comment. My boat has the AT 9.25 SST.

    ttmott,
Your chart doesn't match AT's impeller chart for the SD-309. Your curves are about 100 rpm lower than their current chart not sure why. For example, their AA at 550 hp = 5100 rpm and your (yellow) curve shows 5000 rpm. Similarly, your extrapolated 9.25 curve estimates 600 hp = 5000 rpm, about 100 less than JPC/AT extrapolated 600 hp = 5135 rpm.
JPC uses AT impeller charts published in Seloc. Those same charts are still posted online at AT Impeller SD-309 (http://americanturbine.com) Support/information, so I'm assuming they're current AT info unless someone knows better. Did they send you different charts?
Interesting...their SD-312 impeller's a different design, cut and doesn't even use the same size nomenclature. That impeller's not in JPC. Not sure how many jets run that drive.
Just a comment. No big deal in the real world...loading varies...so on. But just so we're all on the same page in case someone reads your chart then compares to JPC or AT charts and says, "WTF?"

Thanks feeder. I'm fine, the Dragn runs awesome

brings tears to my eyes even in January. Life's good. Just no time to post in my usual style, trying to kick that habit. A moment of weakness. My posts traditionally a bit too controversial/antisocial to be healthy I'd say. And this forum does just fine as is.
    take care,

    Hi jer
That's interesting - I imported the data into Excel and did a simple interpolation algo. Here is the root data from Excel. I guess you need to squint real hard......the Excel chart utility isn't very accurate - visually. I did, however find that the B impeller did not plot so here is the chart again. As a note my twin turbo BBC turns the 9.25 stainless right at 6100 RPM and I know it doesn't make over 1000 hp as my chart indicates. But you are right; many external factors can alter the data like pump loading, discharge configuration, etc. It's simply a starting point then cut the impeller to suit.

I just noticed something! I spoke to "don" from dons pump service and he told me "It takes 600hp to spin a "B" impeller 6000r's" I then asked him if there was a difference from aluminum to bronze to stainless and he said "nope". What he said matches that chart to the T!!

Ok, I have a question. Are those numbers representing a "PERFECT" pump? Were those numbers calculated with a loader, detailed impeller, etc? Please shed a little light for us. I have always wondered that but never asked the question...
